French Basic Conversation
This is a small group by choice, because it allows every member a chance to speak. We meet on the first and third Thursday afternoons of the month, and each member takes it in turn to host sessions in their home.
We have some existing knowledge of French vocabulary and grammar and this is put to use to form sentences in order to speak to one another. The format for the meetings can change from one session to another, but may involve,for example, taking part in general chat or discussing a prearranged topic, a listening exercise, short games reinforcing vocabulary or grammar, and looking at French magazines and emails.
Suggestions about new ways to approach a topic are welcomed and we make a point of helping and encouraging one another.
The group is now full. If anyone wants to find out if there are more of our u3a members who want to converse in French and investigate the possibility of setting up another group, we might be able to help.
