Memory Lane
UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE CLOSED TO NEW MEWMBERS
This small group meets on the 1st Monday of the month in a members home 2pm-4pm.
All the members of the group have family trees full of names and dates and not much detail, so the aim is to tell some of the stories that we have grown up with to share with our families and each other. Each month we will write a piece connected to our own histories, roughly A4 in length, and read it out to other members to spark their own memories. We may pick our own theme independently or choose a theme together. This will be decided at the previous meeting. We all have a story to tell, having a unique upbringing and family and it is amazing what comes out in the telling, usually with lots of laughter.
We are half a dozen members and feel that this is the maximum size the group should be to give all a chance to share their stories and benefit from the help and comments that others give the telling so unfortunately this first group is closed to newcomers. However, we would be really happy to help another group set up. It has been such a fun, life enhancing experience for all of us involved that I am sure it could be rolled out to others. It is a really easy group to organise-you just need a venue, some like minded people and the willingness to share some stories.
