Lower Thames Crossing

At the end of 2018 Highways England held a comprehensive consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing planned to connect Kent with Thurrock. Many people gave their views on the proposal and these have been reviewed and changes made to the Highways England Plan.

Changes have been made and this revised document was release on 29th January 2020 and Highways England are again asking for your comments. You can see the consultation here Lower Thames Consultation You can of course pick up a paper copy, a response form and envelope at a number of location throughout the borough or you can attend one of the meetings. Bus Route 200 is Changing

You may have read in the local newspaper recently that the 200 bus service from Basildon to Grays is to be discontinued from the 5th January 2020.
Information available on the first Essex website says:

"From the 5th January 2020 the service 5 journeys which currently terminate at Basildon Hospital extend to Grays via the 200 route as 5A or 5B, every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday. Alternate journeys serve Orsett as 5B.

The morning 200X journey to Palmers College is revised and renumbered as 5X. The times of the existing journeys between Basildon and Pitsea are unchanged. There will be earlier buses on Saturday morning from Felmores towards Basildon, continuing to Basildon Hospital and Grays."
You can view or down load the new 5 timetable here.

A13 Road works
Work is continuing on the A13 project to widening the road between the A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout) and the A1014 (Stanford le Hope, Manorway) from two to three lanes and the replacement of four bridges.

Over recent months and continuing for the next few months are road closures and restrictions. The latest information and progress pictures can be found on the THURROCK council website at Thurrock A13 Do have a look.

Stanford le Hope Railway station
A temporary ticket office is being built at Stanford le Hope railway station whilst more permanent plans are approved between the interested parties to develop the station site. No time scale for any of this development is currently available, but watch this space.

Stress-free Travel
Recently I went to North Wales on the train .... the journey was made extremely stress free by the use of Assisted Travel ... this service is completely free and accessed by a telephone call.

It means that you are escorted to your train, your luggage is taken for you and taken to your seat. On arrival at your destination station there is someone waiting to assist you and your luggage off the train and accompany you to the station entrance.
This service can be accessed by phoning 0800 0223720......... Julie Coker
