MEETINGS
The monthly meeting takes place on the afternoon of the second Thursday of the month at The Springhouse, Sport and Function Suite, Springhouse Road, Corringham, SS17 8QT.

Doors open at 1.45pm and the meeting commences at 2:00pm. Please can members help us by not arriving at the Hall until 1.30pm which is the time from which we have the Hall officially booked. Committee Members and Speakers need time to set up the room to be able to deal with things such as the projector, attendance, membership and distribution of Newsletters.

Our General meetings will usually follow the format:
Please note that all timings are approximate and will depend upon prevailing events.

  • The meeting starts at 2:00pm with a welcoming introduction from our Chairman and some notices.
  • We will have a tea break at 2.15pm
  • Tickets for the raffle will be on sale during the tea break.
  • Tickets for trips, shows, events, etc. will be on sale during the tea break and at the end of the meeting. Please see Buying and Selling Tickets for events
  • An Event Booking Form can be downloaded here. We have added a new pick up point
  • The raffle will be drawn at the end of the tea break.
  • This is followed by a talk from an interesting guest speaker starting at 2.45pm.
  • Following the speaker at 3.45pm we will continue ticket sales and any other announcements.
  • The meeting formally ends at 4:00pm.

We are always interested to find new speakers for our General Meetings. If you have a presentation or talk that you think would be suitable for a General Meeting, or have any suggestions for other speakers and topics, please email via the CONTACT page or contact a committee member.

Ambling
Thu Jul 25th Exercise, fresh air and chatting are good for you, so let's go to Westley Heights, High Road, Basildon SS16 6HU, for our July Amble and enjoy all of those things. We'll be going on Thursday 25th July, meeting in the car park at the later time of 11 am (Miller and Carter won't let us in before 12 noon). Hope you can join us, look forward to seeing you.

Rambling
Thu Jul 18th July's ramble will be around the Three Chafford Gorges.
The Gorges are a surprising oasis in an otherwise urban environment as I'm sure that anyone who joins us will agree. There is a mixture of lakes, woodland and open spaces for us to enjoy.

We will meet in the car park of the Chafford Gorges Nature Reserve at 10:30 on Thursday 18th July
The address is : Drake Road, Chafford Hundred RM16 6RG.
As there is a Visitors Centre we'll be able to look forward to some refreshments once we've finished our walk.

SANDRINGHAM
There is a lot to see and do in Sandringham.
We will visit the house built in 1870, it has remained a private home for four generations of the British Monarchs. The house sits at the heart of the estate and is still regularly used by the Royal family.
There is also an Exhibition and transport museum with an extraordinary Royal Motor Car collection.
Sandringham is surrounded by 60 acres of glorious gardens with lawns, woodland and lake walks to discover.
For refreshments and eats there id a restaurant, a Terrace Coffee Shop Tea Room and an Ice Cream Kiosk.
The cost of this trip including Coach travel is £34.00 or if you are a RHS member £26.00.

Tue Sep 24th Debbies Winery and Vineyard

This stunning vineyard is situated in Surrey, not too far from Dorking.
This trip has been organised by the Wine Appreciation Group.
It will include a morning tour of the Winery with a wine tasting experience and an afternoon
outdoor train tour of the Vineyard.
There are a couple of excellent places to eat on site for those that will be looking for refreshments.
The cost of this trip is a very reasonable £30.00

Bombay Sapphire Gin Distillery

Enjoy the distillery experience.
We will be guided through the distillery by one of their hosts who will take us through the site explaining the processes and answering any questions.
Discover the 10 exotic botanicals which are infused into every drop of gin. You'll go behind the scenes of the still house and discover what makes Bombay Sapphire so exquisite.
We will then visit the Mill Bar to enjoy a complimentary drink suited to your own taste.
Soft drinks will also be available.
**AS THIS IS A WORKING DISTILLERY GUESTS MUST WEAR SUITABLE FOOTWEAR.
NO OPEN TOED SHOES OR HIGH HEELS ON THE EXPERIENCE**
