MEETINGS
The monthly meeting takes place on the afternoon of the second Thursday of the month at The Springhouse, Sport and Function Suite, Springhouse Road, Corringham, SS17 8QT.

Doors open at 1.45pm and the meeting commences at 2:00pm. Please can members help us by not arriving at the Hall until 1.30pm which is the time from which we have the Hall officially booked. Committee Members and Speakers need time to set up the room to be able to deal with things such as the projector, attendance, membership and distribution of Newsletters.

Our General meetings will usually follow the format:
Please note that all timings are approximate and will depend upon prevailing events.

  • The meeting starts at 2:00pm with a welcoming introduction from our Chairman and some notices.
  • We will have a tea break at 2.15pm
  • Tickets for the raffle will be on sale during the tea break.
  • Tickets for trips, shows, events, etc. will be on sale during the tea break and at the end of the meeting. Please see Buying and Selling Tickets for events
  • An Event Booking Form can be downloaded here. We have added a new pick up point
  • The raffle will be drawn at the end of the tea break.
  • This is followed by a talk from an interesting guest speaker starting at 2.45pm.
  • Following the speaker at 3.45pm we will continue ticket sales and any other announcements.
  • The meeting formally ends at 4:00pm.

We are always interested to find new speakers for our General Meetings. If you have a presentation or talk that you think would be suitable for a General Meeting, or have any suggestions for other speakers and topics, please email via the CONTACT page or contact a committee member.

Ambling
Thu May 30th Come for a meander around Mucking, the venue for our May amble. With good company, panoramic views, bracing breezes and a cracking cafe, there's plenty to keep the ambling group happy. Join us on Thursday 30th May, in the car park up by the Visitor Centre, at 10.30 am at Thameside Nature Park (Mucking), Mucking Wharf Road, Stanford le Hope, SS17 0RN. Look forward to seeing you there.
Bird Watching
Fri Jun 28th Trip to the RSPB Minsmere
Why not join us for this fabulous trip to the RSPB Reserve at Minsmere.
Minsmere featured on BBC's Springwatch a number of times with some amazing discoveries.
Here you'll be able to discover for yourself some of the UK's wildlife with an impressive variety of birds.
The cost of this trip for RSPB members is £20.00 or for non-RSPB members £29.00.
Tickets will be sold with priority to the birdwatching Group from Friday 25th January's meeting at the Thameside Nature Park in Mucking.

Rambling
Thu Jun 20th Benfleet Station to Leigh on Sea

We will meet outside the ticket office of Benfleet Railway Station on Thursday 21st June, commencing our walk at 10:50
For those wishing to travel by train we will meet at Stanford Le Hope Station at 10:20 to catch the 10:30 train. This train arrives in Benfleet at 10:42.
Alternatively. I understand that the station has good car parking.
The walk to Leigh passes over is a very pleasant walk indeed. You pass though fields with views of Hadleigh Castle which we will pass.
There are several nice pubs in Leigh where I'm hoping you will be able to join me for lunch. Once we've been fed and watered we'll head to Leigh-On -Sea station
and catch the train for our return home.

The RSPB reserve at Minsmere has long been a favourite of the BBC's Spring and Autumn watch where they have made some amazing discoveries of our British wildlife. Here you'll be able to find for yourself some of the UK's wildlife with a very impressive variety of Birds.

Southwold
Southwold is a charming seaside town on the North Sea coast in Suffolk.
It boasts a beautiful sandy beach lined with the famous huts, it even has a pier and a lighthouse.
There are plenty of delightful restaurants, cafes and bars to chose from for lunch or refreshments.

The cost of this trip is £20.00 per head
If you wish to visit Minsmere as a non RSPB member there is an addition cost of £9.00 for entry.

Wed Jul 10th Maldon - Thames Barge Sunset Cruise - (SOLD OUT)
Having run this trip this very popular trip a few years ago we felt that it was time for a repeat visit.The Vintage Sailing Barge will sail at 6:30 from the Quayside for a two hour round trip passing Northey Island, Heybridge Basin, Mill Beach and back to Maldon.
The cost of this trip (Including Coach) is £37.00 You can bring your own packed supper or add a Ploughmans for £12.00 or a Smoked Fish Platter for £20.00.
When booking your place on this trip please can you also include any meal orders.

SANDRINGHAM
There is a lot to see and do in Sandringham.
We will visit the house built in 1870, it has remained a private home for four generations of the British Monarchs. The house sits at the heart of the estate and is still regularly used by the Royal family.
There is also an Exhibition and transport museum with an extraordinary Royal Motor Car collection.
Sandringham is surrounded by 60 acres of glorious gardens with lawns, woodland and lake walks to discover.
For refreshments and eats there id a restaurant, a Terrace Coffee Shop Tea Room and an Ice Cream Kiosk.
The cost of this trip including Coach travel is £34.00 or if you are a RHS member £26.00.

Tue Sep 24th Debbies Winery and Vineyard

This stunning vineyard is situated in Surrey, not too far from Dorking.
This trip has been organised by the Wine Appreciation Group.
It will include a morning tour of the Winery with a wine tasting experience and an afternoon
outdoor train tour of the Vineyard.
There are a couple of excellent places to eat on site for those that will be looking for refreshments.
The cost of this trip is a very reasonable £30.00
