Welcome to the Skiddaw U3A

u3a stands for University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for older people no longer in full-time employment. You don’t need formal qualifications and there are no exams.

Members share their knowledge, experience and talents with others in special interest groups. Groups meet during the day at various venues or in members homes and online using Zoom or similar applications. The atmosphere of meetings is informal and companionable thus helping everyone to feel at ease. Outings are also arranged from time to time, to lunches, theatres, concerts and other places of interest.

National Learning Programmes

This is national initiative where you will find many ideas to keep learning during these times - a mixture of suggestions from members and quizzes, challenges and projects from our subject adviser volunteers. Some are one off events and others ongoing over a period a time. Click National Learning Programmes to find out more.

In addition, our regular monthly meetings give members a chance to socialise and listen to excellent guest speakers who cover a wide range of topics.

Please use the buttons above to explore in detail what we have to offer. To find out more about the history and ethos of the U3A click on Third Age Trust.

Our annual subscription is currently £12.00. If you are not a member we hope that you will join us.
