Cycling - Easy Wheelers
Group Convenors - Mark Bradley & Bill Richardson
Skiddaw U3A has two cycling groups Easy Wheelers and Social Cycling, meeting on alternate Tuesdays.
Easy Wheelers do a ride of between 10 and 20 miles trying to avoid the more strenuous of the Lake Districts hills, rides are at an easy pace. We have a stop for elevenses at a cafe for coffee and cake. In order to achieve a variety of rides that avoid hills and main roads we often travel away from Keswick. Rides are adjusted to the seasons and if weather conditions are too bad rides may be postponed or cancelled.
Programme for Autumn 2019
|26th November||Pheasant Inn and Cockermouth|
|10th December||Derwent Water & Xmas Social|
|24th December||No Ride|
Next year’s cycling programme is in preparation if you have any ideas, suggestions or are
interested in leading a ride please contact us by clicking the flying bird icon above to send a message.
The 10th Dec ride is a joint one with Social Cycling and after a ride around Derwent Water, Barbara and David Newton will host us all for mulled wine, mince pies and other Xmas goodies.
Confirmation details will be sent to group members by email on the weekend before the ride.
All types of cyclists, including electric are welcome, however the precautions taken by councils to keep motorbikes off cycle tracks have caused problems for recumbent bikes and tricycles. Where these are known in advance it will be noted in the ride details. Members can join both cycling groups if desired but we suggest that new or returning cyclist ride with the Easy Wheelers first to get a measure of the level of fitness required.
