Group Convener - Sue Ashley
This is a group that aims to look at some scientific issues of general interest. You don’t need to a scientist – anyone with an interest in science is welcome.
Our aim is to appeal to as many people as possible by covering a variety of different topics. If any member of the group wants to suggest a subject that they would like to learn about, we will try to cover it.
Meetings are "normally" held on the 2nd Monday morning of the month at 11:30am. in Portinscale Village Hall. The format is generally a talk followed by questions and discussion.
Meetings for the 2020 - 2021 season will be arranged with the Covid 19 situation in mind. In order to accommodate those members who are self-isolating or prefer to avoid meeting in person and also those members who are uncomfortable with on-line meetings, we will aim for a mixture of on-line (Zoom) and face-to face meetings.
Note that, for face-to face meetings, your safety is being taken very seriously. If you would like to know the procedures that are being taken to ensure your safety, please contact me via the message link on this page.
While the precise details of the programme depend on safety issues and what is feasible during the Covid pandemic, some topics that we hope to include during the season are the ice ages, Arctic sea ice and climate change, bird migration and a talk on advances in medicines.
