Textile Heritage

Group Convenor - Sue Hinde

Are any Skiddaw U3A Members interested in a Textile Heritage Group - Keswick and beyond? If so read one.....Did you know that from the fibre (sheep, cotton etc) to the woven or knitted fabric, there is a dozen (or more) processes and requirements. Which of these took place where? How? When? Does for example, "Carding Mill" Lane give us a clue to the past. What about the Bobbin Mill? If you are interested in forming a group that will explore this rich textile heritage in Keswick and beyond please send a message to the Convenor via the Contact button
