SINGING FOR FUN
I have always like singing and I sang in choirs in my youth so when I heard that other U3A’s had choirs I thought why not Skelmersdale? I approached a number of members about singing but the stock answer was oh, I can’t sing but I believe that everyone can sing some obviously better than others and when singing in a group you will surprise yourself.
I managed to convince approximately 18 members to at least give it a go, It is a great success and people love singing together.
We now have a steady group of 12-15 members singing all kinds of songs particularly golden oldies that everyone knows. People who were shrinking violets now sing with gusto and even sing solos. The whole group has turned out just as I thought it would and everybody has ideas for our next session
So why not come along and join us every other Tuesday afternoon in Skelmersdale Library 1st Floor Lift available. If you don’t think that you can sing, I guarantee that after a couple of session you will surprise yourself.

The singing for fun group are still going strong and improving every week we are now starting on our songs for Christmas, come and join us, you don't have to be a song bird we do just sing for fun. Some of us went along to listen to the Occasional Singers a couple of week ago a singing group that have been singing together for over 40yrs. they were performing for charity at Ormskirk Parish Church amongst their programme they sang a medley of songs from the shows and they raised £300 for charity. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening especially the jolly jokes in the car park later.
