Skelmanthorpe & District

Gardening

On the 26th March at Skelmanthorpe Methodist Church, Anne-Marie Booth will talk about methods of propagating plants. 1pm meet for refreshments and the talk starts at 1.30 as usual. She is bringing plants to sell.
For reference here are the meeting arrangements of the gardening group:-

1 Meeting day and date
The meetings are always held on the last Tuesday of the month, usually 1.00pm for 1.30pm, unless a different time is specified in the email sent out before the meeting.

2 Venue
If the meeting consists of a speaker, the usual venue is Skelmanthorpe Methodist Church. If it is different to this, I will state this in the email I send out prior to each meeting. If the meeting consists of a visit, then I shall include the details of where the group will meet in the email.

3 Payment at each meeting
There is a payment required from members of the group to cover for costs of speakers, venue hire costs and refreshments. Or if we are visiting somewhere, the cost of the venue we are visiting (if applicable). The cost per member of each group varies from £2 -£5, depending on the costs incurred for the meeting. I always include the cost of the meeting in advance in the email I send out.

4 Sharing within the group
The ethos of the U3A is that, although groups are coordinated by a person(s), members of the group have responsibility to contribute to the smooth running of the meetings and the group. I am grateful to the group of members who are now regularly helping with the set up of the room, serving refreshments and washing and clearing up.
Other helpful contributions to the group are suggestions of topics/visits for the group meetings or sharing gardening knowledge/experience with other
