Skegness

Welcome to Skegness U3A.

Skegness, as well as being one of the UK’s busiest seaside resorts, is home to approximately 20,000 permanent residents, 25% of whom are over retirement age (Skegness Neighbourhood Plan).

We are part of a worldwide organisation, with each local U3A run independently, where every member has something to offer, and every member has something to learn.

Skegness U3A provides social, recreational and educational activities for retired or semi-retired people. We meet at the Storehouse on North Parade on the third Wednesday of the month at 10 o’clock where there is either a guest speaker, or a coffee morning which offers the opportunity to meet other members. As well as the monthly meetings there are a number of groups, run by members, that provide opportunities to share interests and learn new skills.
Group activities are an important part of the U3A. We have all had interesting experiences and pastimes we can share with others. The groups meet regularly according to what suits the members.

Details of the current groups are shown on this website. All of these groups are now functioning after a considerable break due to the recent pandemic. We did have other groups before Covid, but these now need new volunteers to run them. In addition, there is now an exciting opportunity to introduce new groups and interests. Any group subject is possible when there are people willing to contribute and participate, for example, birdwatching and 10-pin bowling, though mountaineering might prove difficult in Skegness!

If you have a skill or hobby you would like to share with others, you would be very welcome to come and join us. Equally, you can come along to our monthly get-together or come to one of our groups, where you will make many new friends and enjoy new experiences. Annual membership for the current year (up to May 2022) is £15.00. This figure is reviewed each year and agreed at the AGM.
