The Network is currently participating in a range of discussions with Wolverhampton University to identify real opportunities for U3A members to be involved in original research projects. Recently those contacts have focused on discussions with members of the Centre for Health and Social Care Improvement, Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing and the first study opportunity, which is likely to be the beginning of a range of research opportunities, is as follows:
An invitation to participate in
A research study entitled 'Help-seeking among family caregivers to people showing early signs of dementia – a preliminary qualitative study'
The aim of the study is to better understand the views, decisions and experiences of seeking help by those people who suspect a loved one is showing early signs of dementia, their support needs at this time, and what factors may have impacted on their seeking help. It is hoped that the data from the study will further inform planning and policy, helping to equip healthcare professionals and others to better support people at this time and respond to their emotional and practical needs.
The research will involve an interview with a researcher at a time and place to suit you. For further information, please take time to look through the Participant Invitation Letter and Patient Information Sheet. If you are interested in taking part in the study, please contact Wolverhampton University directly as outlined at the end of the Information Sheet.
Please note that the study between the individual and the University does not involve the U3A Network in any way. Your name will not be recorded anywhere in the study and no individual will be identifiable from the published results.
