Group Co-ordinator: Graham Brown Tel: 01743-353485
Meetings are held at premises having Disabled Access and car parking at Louise House, Roman Road. Due to the size of the accommodation here and with a current membership of 20 it is best, in the interests of comfort, to declare the Group full at October 2016. Potential new members are invited to join a waiting list by calling the telephone number given above.
We study the buildings of Britain - and other countries - through different periods of history, types, styles and functions. This includes techniques, methods and materials showing us how buildings are constructed and why they remain in place. Generally speaking, our approach leans towards the historical and the aesthetic rather than the technical. Contemporary architecture comes under regular scrutiny. The works of individual architects and movements are explored, and we undertake field trips during the warmer months.
Participation is the key, and group members are encouraged to present the results of their researches or to help arrange the events and activities in our programme.
Our programme of activities for the coming months:
January Likes and Dislikes
February Ljubljana (Alex Bregman)
March Zaha Hadid (Peg and Syd)
April To be advised (Graham)
May-to-August Field Trips are being arranged for these four months
September onwards The schedule of meetings for the following eight months is being prepared
