This is a recently formed, home-based, interest group that meets every 4 weeks on a Wednesday at 2pm. See below for more information on meeting dates.
Group members cover a very wide range of disciplines, capabilities and experience from having little knowledge of science to leaders in certain fields - so discussion tends to be wide ranging and demanding! The objective is to address a particular subject at a meeting in such a way as to bring everyone up to a point of understanding of the basic concepts without necessarily becoming experts in the subject – a task that has been found to be challenging for those familiar with a specific subject!
At present the group is home-based and at current numbers that is likely to continue. Although one member's home will predominantly provide the venue, some meetings may be held at different venues to allow access to specialist equipment. It is worth noting though that any significant increase in our group numbers might mean that we would need to change to a rented venue.
New members seriously keen to learn about scientific matters are welcome - subject to the group's ability to physically house them at any given time - for reasons explained above.
Meetings will be held nominally every four weeks, but this pattern may be broken where needed to allow for the non availability of a venue due to holidays, 'grandparent duties' at Half Term, etc.
Meetings are currently scheduled to take place on:
