1ST MONDAY OF THE MONTH 14.00 – 16.00
You might be a long-standing resident with memories of your own or a relative newcomer wishing to learn about the area but together we will explore not only Shoreham and Southwick but also Worthing, Brighton, Hove and Portslade too. There will also be times when we will “travel” throughout Sussex as a whole.
Any member wishing to undertake a presentation of their own will be fully supported and all members will be encouraged to undertake a little research of their own - perhaps a person, a place, a building, an event, an activity or a period in time.
Throughout 2020 we may take a closer look at some of the following topics:
Sussex in Literature, Art and Culture in Sussex, Murderous Sussex, and Smuggling along the South Coast, Historic Buildings, local events such as The Lewes Bonfire Procession or The International Birdman Festival, The Army Camp at Shoreham, Shipbuilding in Shoreham, Bungalow Town, Memories of a Southwick Childhood, Seaside Piers or Personalities from the Past, the list is endless.
But, first and foremost, this is “YOUR” group and all ideas and suggestions are most welcome.
Meetings will be held in Room 2 at The Shoreham Centre from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
Occasionally a local expert might be invited to talk to us and should that necessitate a fee then an additional payment of £1 or £1.50 may be requested.
Unless otherwise stated, meetings usually take place in Room 2 at The Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, starting at 2pm on the 1st Monday of the month.
NB: An extra charge will be requested occasionally to cover Speaker’s expenses, admissions etc.
Our programme till the end of 2019 is given below . All meetings will be held in room 2 at the Shoreham Centre, commencing at 2pm.
