Members volunteer to participate by bringing along articles, pictures etc. to read and show and we use laptop, visualiser, projector, ipad and DVD so that the group can view the pictures together. There is no pressure to do this but it is a great way of learning by going to the library (children’s books are very useful) or visit a website.
Occasionally we have an informal meeting and members bring along anything of interest to show and talk about. For more information please email by clicking on the bluebird message box at the top right of this page.
This group meets fortnightly (alternating with Art Appreciation) on a Thursday morning at 10.00am in Room 2 Shoreham Centre.
We have been for some time been studying How They Lived down through the centuries and seeing how life has changed. A book of very unusual maps was looked at and we finished up by going back to the Battle of Hastings.
We can study anything that is of interest and suggested by the members. We are a nicely mixed group with several knowledgeable gentlemen talking about topics.
Members volunteer to participate in true U3A fashion by bringing along articles, pictures to show and read, books with interesting stories, speaking about people who have done great things, inventions, transport etc. To read and show we use laptops, visualiser, projector, iPad and DVD so that the group can view the pictures together. There is no pressure to do this but it is a great way of learning , and by going to the library and borrowing books (children’s books are very useful).
Occasionally we have an informal meeting and members bring along anything of interest to show and talk about. We will be starting off the next session by doing just this, and it is also a good way for new members to join in. We will be going on in October by having our fashion expert talking about the clothes of the 20th/21st century. Following that we will be looking at Piers and Lighthouses around the country. One member had a local relative who was a diver and she will tell us about him.
