Kurling
Kurling is based on the game of Curling on Ice.
For those who have not come across Kurling, it is based on Curling on Ice, only it is played indoor with plastic kurling stones on 3 ball-bearing wheels which the player slides down the room to the target. It’s a fun game but one where skill can be acquired, if you are lucky. Sometimes it goes well and other times not.
Kurling can be played by everyone, no matter what their fitness or mobility level, and this probably accounts for why it is becoming increasingly popular in u3as around the country, because it is a sociable time. Fit members can ‘launch’ the stones in a similar way to playing bowls. Those that are not so keen or able to bend down or who need to sit can using a pushing tool. That’s the majority of the group at the moment.
