The Skein Singers is a small choir, currently 15 strong, that started two years ago. We sing a range of songs from traditional English to gospel, and are fortunate in having an excellent music director (Annette Smith) who is able to create arrangements to suit our voices.
There are no particular requirements for joining apart from a desire to sing. Some members are experienced singers, while others may not have sung since school. You don’t have to be able to read music: some do, others don’t. We usually start with some physical and vocal warm-up exercises, which everyone finds of great benefit.
We're always looking for new members across the range of voices, but would be especially delighted to recruit a few more tenor and bass voices.
We meet on alternate Wednesdays at the Methodist Church in Shipston from 10am -12 noon (with a coffee break about 11 am). There is a charge of £3 to cover the cost of the hire of the hall, sheet music and refreshments.
Our first practice of 2019 will be on the 16th of January when we will be starting a new programme of music for the spring.
