Choir
Rehearsals are held weekly from September to July, with occasional breaks, and take place in the Digby Memorial Church Hall, Digby Road, on Wednesdays from 2.00 – 4.00pm.
We are a mixed choir with a membership of about 50. Music is provided but you do not have to be able to sight read and previous experience, though helpful, is not essential. We are a very friendly and supportive group!
Each year we cover a varied repertoire of songs, ranging from classical pieces, spirituals, folksongs, jazz and a few “popular” arrangements.
Concerts and other less formal events feature regularly in our annual calendar. For example, in the past we have held Carol Concerts in Cheap Street Church during the Christmas Tree Festival, lunchtime concerts under the auspices of the Sherborne Abbey Festival, and Summer Concerts including one in the beautiful setting of Haselbury Mill.
If you are interested in joining do please come to the enrolment morning on Friday 1 September 2023 in the Digby Memorial Church Hall, or contact the Membership Secretary who will put you in touch with the choir leader. Contrary to common belief we do have room for one or two new members!
