Rehearsals are held weekly from September to July, with occasional breaks, and take place in the Catholic Church Hall, Westbury, on Mondays from 10.45am – 12.45pm.
We are a mixed choir with a membership of about 50. Music is always provided but you do not have to be able to sight read and previous experience, though helpful, is not essential. We are a very friendly and supportive group!
Each year we cover a varied repertoire of songs, ranging from classical pieces, spirituals, folksongs, jazz and a few “popular” arrangements.
Concerts and other less formal events feature regularly in our annual calendar. For example, last season’s events included a Carol Concert in Cheap Street Church during the Christmas Tree Festival, a lunchtime concert (Exsultate!) under the auspices of the Sherborne Abbey Festival, and a Summer Celebratory Concert in the beautiful setting of Haselbury Mill. The latter was a new venture for us and proved very enjoyable for both choir and audience alike.
Plans for next season so far include a return visit for carols in Cheap Street Church. on 2 December and, on 5 May, we are delighted to have been invited to perform our third Abbey Festival Concert in the beautiful new Gransden Hall at Sherborne Girls.
If you are interested in joining do please come to the enrolment morning on 6 September, or contact the Membership Secretary who will put you in touch with the choir leader. Contrary to common belief we do have room for one or two new members!

Viva La Musica!
Sherborne U3A Choir and Madrigal Groups present a programme drawn from the sixteenth century to the present day, with items both sacred and secular, some serious and others light-hearted. We hope the programme as a whole will reflect the mood of the title!
