Play Reading

Welcome to the Play Reading Group page

No previous acting experience required!

We are an informal group meeting on the first Monday of the month in a group member's house. We make our own "Armchair Theatre" reading plays by a varied selection of authors. They may be comedies, farces, murder mysteries, or straight plays.

Authors have included Agatha Christie (of course!), Alan Ayckbourn, Tom Stoppard, Oscar Wilde, George Orwell, Simon Gray, Noel Coward, and J.B. Priestley. A recent play that we all enjoyed was an adaptation by James Roose-Evans of Laurie Lee's autobiographical novel "Cider With Rosie". It made us all very nostalgic for a time gone by. Plays are chosen primarily to provide each member with a speaking role which may be large or small.

If you are interested please enquire via the Groups coordinator button on the Contact page and someone will contact you soon.
