Instructional videos, practical demonstrations and a monthly challenge.
Maybe you should join the Digital Photography Group? No prior knowledge is expected, just an interest in taking better photographs, and extending your knowledge and skills. It is rather assumed that you have a digital camera and access to a computer, either a PC or a Mac. Communications are via email.
We have set the following objectives:
· enabling members to have a basic understanding of the principles of photography;
· enabling members to be able to use their own cameras effectively;
· enabling members to be able to use the digital darkroom for managing their images, and manipulating them in image processing software.
Each meeting, currently held using zoom, we will have a subject for members to interpret and then submit their entries for discussion.
We meet monthly for 9 times a year.
One of members, Theresa Mortimer, was a member of the Group for several years, and died in October 2020. A quiet, gentle and lady, even by U3A standards, she always said she didn’t know much about cameras, computers or photography, but she always entered superbly crafted and imaginative photos in our monthly competitions. When asked how she achieved such good results, all she would say was “well I just mess about until it looks right”. Click on the link on this page to see 12 wonderful examples of her photos.
