Seaton

People in History

The People in History group meets on the third Wednesday of the month in the Methodist Church Hall, Scalwell Lane, Seaton. Our sessions run for 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a break for refreshments half way through.

In each session we consider the life of an individual or a group, usually famous but necessarily so, and look at their career and the time they lived. They may be colossal characters like locally born John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, or some of History's more notorious scallywags.

We are not limited to British or European History and we endeavour to cover all time periods from ancient times to the present day. One month we may be checking out life in Victorian times to be followed a few weeks later by events in Ancient Rome. We will look at political and military careers but also domestic issues. The choice of subjects is varied and include suggestions by group members.

If anyone is interested in checking us out, then the subject for the next meeting will be available in the Monthly Bulletin.
Please contact group leader Sandy Caple on 01297-21034 for more information.
