The idea of the Woodland Wanderers is that on the 3rd Wednesday afternoon of each month at 2..00pm we meet at a different local woodland to explore the woodland. This will be a “learning from each other” interest group. How often have we walked past a tree, flower, butterfly etc, and wished we could identify it? Many of us have come to realise how important connecting with nature has been over the past year and these are also opportunities to connect with others in the outdoors. This is not a walking group as the distance covered will not exceed 1.5 miles and, where possible, we will try to use decent tracks through the woods.
We regularly have between 8 and 14 people meeting up even through the recent colder months and it has been fascinating observing the changing seasons from when we restarted in August.
Other woodlands that have been visited previously include - Frodingham Nature Reserve, Brumby Woods, Hempdykes, Ridge Walk, Bottesford Beck, Ashby Ville Lagoons, Silica Country Park,Far Ings, we are likely to visit some of these again and any others that come to light (not literally)
