Monthly Speaker & other Events

The Scunthorpe & District branch of the U3A meets at St Bernadette's Church Hall, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe. DN16 2RS at 2.00 p.m. on the 4th Friday of the month.

Members normally start to arrive from about 1.30pm. Any announcements are made at 2.00pm and the meeting gets underway with the Speaker starting at 2.15. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available from 1.30 to 2.15. A list of Speakers and the details of other events are included below.

Day Trips
Wed Jul 3rd Scawby U3A will be visiting Sewerby Hall and gardens near Bridlington Yorkshire.

The seats will be offered to the Scawby members first and then to the Scunthorpe U3A members, then family and friends.

The cost will be £25 Both organisers are members of Scunthorpe U3A so may be contacted at the Friday meetings
Wed Sep 4th Burghley House and Stamford. The coach fare will be £15.00 but this does not include admission to the house and gardens. Further details later.
Tue Nov 5th Doddington Hall. Cost £22.00, (£5.00 deposit required) There will be an extra charge for the Xmas meal depending on choice – menus will be available at a later date.

Wed Jul 17th RAF Holmton Nuclear Bunker situated south of Withernsea, on the east coast of Yorkshire, a simple bungalow hides the entrance to an underground nuclear bunker. Descend the stairs and venture along a 120-metre tunnel, pass through the blast doors and find yourself in the secret world of cold war defence. Admission charge is Adult £9 over 60’s £7.
