The u3a in Scotland is committed to running two events each year, if possible. These are called "All Scotland Assemblies" and all Scotland-based member u3as can send a reasonable number of their members, subject to the capacity of the location. These events typically have a main speaker and then break-out workshops covering areas of relevance to organisation and governance of u3as. A third All Scotland Assembly, usually held in June, includes the Annual General Meeting.
A free light buffet lunch provides an opportunity for members to meet and chat informally with others. Many find this aspect very helpful in learning and exchanging new ideas etc. We try to organise the All Scotland Events around the country to make them available to the maximum number of members. We always welcome member u3as' suggestions of topics and locations.
Because of Covid-19 restrictions the All Scotland Assembly on 30 March 2020 in Peebles and the planned AGM in Edinburgh on 18 June 2020 were cancelled. The 2020 AGM was held online via Zoom on 16th November 2020. An online Assembly was held in April 2021. The AGM for 2021 was held via Zoom on 17 June 2021.
The Summer School 2020 was also cancelled, and re-booked for August 2021, then further cancelled and re-booked for August 2022. For further information please see the Summer School page of this website.
Summer Programme 9 - 20 August 2021
As we were unable to run the Summer School this year, we offered an online programme of courses and events by some of our Summer School tutors during the two weeks from 9 to 20 August.
