LATIN

Leader Sue Clothier
Meetings are held on the on the last Monday of every month at Kenrick Park Community Centre, West Bromwich
Time 10am-12noon.
Cost towards use of the room is 50p or £1 each depending on the number of members attending.

The group gives you a chance to learn from scratch or refresh what you learnt at school, either in small groups or working at a pace that suits you. We follow the Cambridge Classics course that is used by schools, and provide all the books you will need. Students are then able to take graded tests to gain University of Cambridge certificates as they work through the stages, covering life in the Roman Empire as well as the language.

Occasionally we add to this with an outing and in 2009 we met a fully armed Roman soldier at the Lunt Fort near Coventry and saw a luxurious Cotswold Villa at Chedworth. In October 2010 we took a group of members to Chester where we visited the Grosvenor Museum and the Dewa Roman Experience, both of which gave us an intriguing insight into Roman Life in Chester. In September 2011 the Latin group visited Wroxeter, site of a Roman city. A very enjoyable outing by our small group.
