Region

SDU3A is a member of the Northumbria Region of the U3A, which is part of the national and international University of the Third Age. This exists to fulfil the needs and aspirations of its members who have retired from working life, but are still active. The wide-ranging activities of the groups reflect the principal aim of U3A which is to encourage the sharing and exchange of skills, knowledge and interests amongst its members.

There are 46 local U3As in the Northumbria Region which includes Northumberland, County Durham and parts of North Yorkshire and Redcar & Cleveland.

Regional meetings are held every 3 months which members of SDU3A committee try to attend. They are however open to any U3A member so if you would like to go along, anyone on the committee can point you in the right direction.
