Friday 8th October 2021

Here are the fruits of our first group meeting. We were blessed with beautiful people, good company and a willingness to learn from each other. We practiced getting the right paint consistency to create our first dot art on paper.

Dot art dates back to 1971, when Aboriginal tribes learned to translate their paintings of sacred rituals from sand to canvas. They used dots and crosshatching to obscure their secrets from other tribes and the Western world. Our dots sat proud and round like tiny bubbles, almost like 3D in white, black and all shades of grey in homage to Aborignal Art.

It was a lively session, most enjoyable and relaxing. The good thing is that we can laugh and learn together – that’s what this group is all about.

Thank you to everyone for taking part. I am looking forward to the next meeting - the theme is LADYBIRDS!

The coloured stones shown here were brought by members for us to aspire to and were such good examples.
