Gardening - grow your own

The Grow Your Own group.

I joined Sale U3A Grow Your Own Group in February and have had a fulfilling time preparing the ground, planting, feeding and harvesting the vegetables. As you know, I use a wheelchair and was unable to access all areas of the allotment due to the reduced width of many of the paving stones. Very kindly three of the U3A members David, George and Allan, pictured, undertook a significant piece of work in replacing most of the stones with wheelchair friendly ones. This kind work will allow any existing and future members with a wheelchair to join the workgroup without any access problems, which is a reflection on Sale U3A’s vision for inclusiveness.

Meet on Sunday morning at 10am at Moor Nook allotments, Sale. Also various members meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays according to the needs of the plants. We grow various fruits and vegetables both outdoors and in a Polytunnel.
The group members interact with a view to liaise on the various options for the cultivation of vegetables and fruit on their own allotment.
Allan Surrey is the group leader.

The "Grow your own Group" will be at the Open Day at Moor Nook Allotments between 12 noon and 2.30pm on 2 July 2022. See Grow your own News
