Resuming Group Activities

The Committee have agreed that all Group activities can now resume Having met the Group leaders, we are going to have hybrid meetings with people joining by Zoom and others face to face at the Community Centre. We are not returning to the small room as there is not enough space for Groups to meet and members have expressed, they do not want to return to that room. We have amended the timetable
As we are returning to the Community Centre we must abide by their procedures as well as our own risk assessments. One of the things we will ask for is that no-one attends if they are feeling unwell whatever their symptoms are. We would encourage you to adhere to the current guidance which is to perform lateral flow tests regularly. If people wish to, they can wear masks
Refreshments can be served at Groups as usually it is 1 or 2 people moving around

Please look at the group page below for more information or
Contact either your group leader or the group co-ordinator on the contacts page for further details

Instructions for using Zoom - please click on the link on the NEWS page

Possible New Groups

EGYPTOLOGY
Kathryn Fyfe would like to set up an Egyptology Group.
I have numerous options obviously but think if part of purpose is to encourage folk to join a new group, then at least part of this should be about what Egyptology actually is and what period it usually covers; famous and less famous key archaeologist and some key finds and stories to encourage some interest. If you would like to join the Group, please contact Kathryn Fyfe or contact Judith Lloyd. Kathryn will also give a talk about Egyptology on September 30th

CIPHERS

Peter Beresford would like to set up a cipher group.

The National Cipher Challenge is an annual competition which has been running since 2002, setting several code-breaking challenges. Anyone who likes solving puzzles might be interested. The competition is aimed at secondary school pupils, but other people can take part informally. The ten challenges are issued weekly from October to December, increasing in difficulty week by week. No previous experience of codes and ciphers is assumed - just the fun of solving puzzles and learning about the history of secret codes. Although the initial focus could be on the National Challenge, there would be plenty of scope for a continuing group.

If you want more information or would like to join the group, please contact: Judith Lloyd

ORIGAMI

Origami Birds Wouldn’t you like to make these origami birds? Bernard, one of our members has offered to lead an Origami Group. ,

CYCLING

Cycling Bernard has also offered to run a Cycling Group,

If you are interested in joining the groups above, please email: Judith Lloyd
