The Birdwatching group welcomes anyone with an interest in exploring and learning more about the birds found in Rutland. It is a happy band of amateurs with a wide range of birdwatching skills and experiences.
Our meetings take place at various birdwatching sites around the county on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month between 9.30 and 11.30.
Rutland Water and Eyebrook Reservoir are birdwatching sites of national significance so naturally figure regularly in meetings. However there are many less obvious sites such as Leighfield, Fort Henry, Fineshade and Martinsthorpe that can, with a bit of good fortune, provide a good morning birdwatching.
Group meetings regularly attract 6 to 10 members. Binoculars and outdoor footwear and clothing are essential requirements as only a few sites have sheltered hides and most meetings involve some country walking.
