We are a group of 23 who enjoy sharing our gardening ideas and tips.
In February Charrill Sands gave us a very interesting talk on “Women Gardeners of the 20th Century”, and in October Margaret Arnott came and gave us a fascinating and informative talk about the history of the National Garden Scheme.
Once again we sowed “mystery” seeds - members are given sowing instructions and later try to identify them. This year, however, very few seeds germinated! I blame the seeds!
In April we visited Dunsborough Park to see a beautiful show of tulips and again in September to see an equally beautiful display of dahlias.
We continue with our 'Initial Talks', where members are allocated a letter of the alphabet and tell us what they have found out about a plant whose name starts with that letter.
In June we enjoyed putting on a gardening display at the monthly meeting.
For our Christmas meeting we had our usual gardening quiz, a small Christmas table decoration and some of this year’s photos, categories: One Special Plant and A View. Delicious food also, brought by our members.
We are looking forward to a different “speaker” for this month’s meeting (January 2018). Sue Lindberg is a keen photographer, especially of birds and wildlife and has agreed to come and show her photos in a relaxed “chatting” session. Her photos have been seen on television and elsewhere. So we are looking forward to it.
As always we enjoy visiting each other’s gardens in the Summer. Coffee and cakes go down well.
One of our members, Sue Lambert, a keen runner, recently took part in the New York Marathon. Her photo shows her with her medal - such an achievement!
