WALKING CRICKET

Are you looking to socialise, do light exercise and play a competitive game of cricket with people of similar skill levels, varying from absolute beginners to those who have played in the distant past? We are an all-inclusive group welcoming both women and men and people from all backgrounds. Rotherham u3a Walking Cricket group is one of a growing number of u3a teams across the county. We play friendlies against teams from other towns, in addition to our weekly Rotherham sessions.

Equipment and support have been given to the group by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation who continue to support u3a walking cricket groups across the county. Starting in April 2021, the group has now developed into a friendly, sociable group playing a regular game of cricket and enjoying social lunches at a variety of venues.

From September to Easter we play indoors (September 2024 venue to be confirmed). We then move outdoors to Rotherham Town Cricket Club (Clifton Lane) through to the end of August. Summer 2024 sessions start on Friday 12 April. Sessions are from 10 am until 12 noon. The first Autumn (indoor) session will be on 6 September.

To enable us to play more often than the 30 weeks allowed by Ru3a, we make a small charge of £2.50 per session (2 hours) towards the pitch hire and equipment renewal. (We play every week, except for Christmas and Easter school holidays and the 3 half terms - approximately 45 weeks per year).

Venue - Rotherham Town Cricket Club, Clifton Lane, Rotherham S65 2AA (April- August) 10 am - 12 noon
Autumn 2024 venue TBC

She played brilliantly helping Yorkshire beat Worcestershire in the Yorkshire teams first county game (see Angie's photo on this page)

Meeting dates 2024: every Friday 5 Jan - 29 March (not 16 Feb); 19 April- 30 August (not 31 May)
