U3As (Universities of the Third Age) are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives for older people no longer in full time work, providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.
Ripley and District U3A was formed at the beginning of 2009 and we now have 153 members and 21 established interest groups (please go to the GROUPS page on this website and follow the links for details of these). Annual membership is £20 per person but because of the current situation it has been reduced to £5. Once we are able to start monthly meetings again, we may have to adjust the fee. Please click on LINKS above to see the current membership form.
New members are very welcome. If you are interested in joining, becoming a group co-ordinator, or just want to find out more, please get in touch through the GROUP page or CONTACT page on this website.
PLEASE NOTE: face-to face meetings were temporarily cancelled because of the restrictions imposed because of the Covid-19 pandemic but are now beginning to restart. A few groups have been able to continue using remote connections, others have restarted whilst some are not yet ready to do so. Please check with the Co-ordinator to confirm whether a group is running.
We continue to produce "What's On" and magazines and will attempt to keep members informed as the situation changes.
