Family History
Convenor: Bob Cairns, who can be contacted by clicking the "click to send a message!"
This group allows members to share their experiences, gain help and advice, improve their research skills and knowledge whilst socialising and having some fun. This is a large and lively group with members ranging from those who have been researching their family histories for a lifetime to those who started a few months ago. We have a buddy system for beginners. The varied programme includes talks from members and visitors, research sessions and sharing family stories and ancestors biographies. There are visits to archives including an annual trip to The National Archive at Kew. There are regular newsletters.
Meetings are on the last Tuesday in the month from 2 pm until 4 pm and are held in the Scout Hut which has Wi-Fi. The location is disability friendly and has easy parking.
There is a meeting charge of £1 to cover hire costs and refreshments.
Convenor Bob Cairns is supported by a small planning group.
