Weekly, Tuesdays from 10am - 12 noon in TW10 **Starts 2nd April* for six weeks
Leader: Sue Roberts
This six-week course is suitable for those who may already know something about mindfulness as well as for complete beginners. It introduces ‘What is Mindfulness?’ in a secular way and people who attend will be offered the opportunity to explore how to practise mindfulness and compassion in everyday life. You can expect exploration and practice of the following:
• What is Mindfulness? The nature of the mind
• How to settle the mind
• Using breath and/or sound as a meditation support
• The body scan
• Staying present in the here and now
• Applying mindfulness in everyday life to support stress reduction
If you would like to attend, you will need to commit to all six sessions as the course is designed to help people develop their mindfulness practice gradually over this time period. The mindfulness practice involves sitting in silence for periods of 10-15 minutes during the initial few sessions, through to approximately 40 minutes during the latter sessions. You will be encouraged to practise these sitting sessions daily throughout the six-week period.
Timing: 10 am – 12 pm. We will have a refreshment break half way through the morning.
