Robotics Group. There has been talk of perhaps running a group to look at some aspect of playing with and using robots. The idea might be that we look at the sort of robots that kids can make (Lego/Meccano style) and extend that to less directed making—using Raspeberry Pi computers and the like. At the same time the whole thing could include any aspect of using electronics beyond using a computer—eg to set up a remote camera to watch birds at a feeder or remotely close your curtains and turn on the lights when it goes dark. The idea would be to concentrate on the doing rather than the talking about aspect and id expect two, three, or more projects going on at once with hands on tuition from the ‘we know a bit’ for those who ’know nothing’. Sharing ideas and problem solving. If you’re interested then let me know. I can supply ideas and materials.I’m sure I can organise space. I’m happy to get the whole thing started. What we need are people to take part and someone to keep the thing ticking over by keeping a list of the group and sending out reminders and so on. If you’re interested then give John Cartmell a call on 01527 63923 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org And YES we do mean total beginners can take part. Experts are welcome but so are those wanting to learn from scratch.
