Play Reading group

Redditch U3A Play Reading Group

Group leader: Shirley Scott

The group was formed towards the commencement of Redditch U3A. It meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month (except for August and December), and is held at St Andrews Methodist Church, Church Hill North from 2pm until 5pm (the sessions usually conclude by 4.30pm approx). The group is self-funded by its members with an annual subscription plus a small monthly charge (well worth it!). Mid-session refreshments are available in the Church hall.

The plays are chosen by the Group Leader from a collection at Worcester Library. The number of copies of each play depends upon the number of characters in the play chosen, which is usually geared to the number of members currently attending.

Over the years and by the end of 2012, over 180 plays have been read, and some have even been re-read. Playwrights include Bernard Shaw, Alan Ayckbourne, and writers of historical plays, murders, comedies etc. A wide spectrum.

New members (ladies and gentlemen), are always welcome.

For further information on this group, please send a message to the Group Coordinator using the button to the right of this page. Please include a contact telephone number.
