Following the Government advice we have had no option but to suspend all our activities for the time being. However, some groups are starting to meet again via social media which is a great way for members to have contact with each other and to alleviate boredom and loneliness. Several groups are meeting using Zoom which, although not the same as meeting in person, does give some contact with others. Zoom is very easy to use and other members will be able to help you via emails or the phone. If you use your device for emails you can use it for Zoom! We also have a monthly talk on-line which again, is very easy to connect with, which is proving very popular. As a member you will receive the u3a magazine, regular emails, our newsletter, a monthly talk and the opportunity to connect with others.
The Third Age Trust has a page on their website to keep you informed of the latest guidance and advice www.u3a.org.uk .
Newly retired? Moved into a new area? Don’t know what to do?
With the U3A you have the opportunity to meet new people, perhaps learn a language, join a walking group, learn something new or share the knowledge you have on a subject with others.
There is no age limit with the U3A movement but to get the best out of belonging you need to be available some times during the day. Some groups meet in the evenings and weekends but others during the week.
As a member you have the opportunity to attend our monthly meeting where we have a guest speaker. This meeting is an opportunity to meet others, find out about groups and read the information displayed on our noticeboards. We have over 30 interest groups to join and if you have an interest that is not covered you can contact the Group Co-Ordinator with your suggestion. We have outings to places of interest about 3 times a year and an annual holiday.
Despite the current situation we are still happy to welcome new members. If you wish to join Redbourn U3A please contact the Membership Secretary via the Contact page and click the relevant button. You will receive a membership form for completion and return. Our membership year runs from April 1st to 31st March and our fee is £10 for the coming year. If you join now you will receive our newsletter, the Third Age Trust magazine and information about groups and events. We are also now running our monthly talks on line. See the events page.
For existing members who wish to renew you can pay by BACS to Rebourn U3A, sort code no. 20 53 33, bank account number 33292940 and please use your telephone number as the reference.
