New Members Coffee Morning April 2012

Over sixty new members and members of the Committee came together for a New Members Coffee Morning at Holy Trinity Hall, organised by Membership Secretary, Doreen Blake, to find out more about our U3A.

Pete Huntly, Vice Chair welcomed all the new members before Committee Member, David Carlton introduced the other members of the Committee.

Pete Huntly then did a power point presentation telling of the history of the U3A and that of the Rayleigh U3A in particular followed by short films showing members of U3A's enjoying group activities.

Group Leaders from Canasta, Walking Group and Serendipity spoke about their activities. Bob Wren introduced himself as the contact for Group Activities and told the audience that a new Group Activity Book was being produced and would be circulated to all members shortly.

The audience was asked by Immediate Past Chair, Maureen Huntly if at least two of them would come forward to be on a Committee to introduce half day study days along with existing Group Leaders on subjects which up until now have not been considered i.e. Wild Life Conservation, Historical & Powerful Women, History of Medicine and more.

Three ladies put themselves forward to give new members a ‘ voice’.
