Sports Groups

Badminton Wednesday
Group Leader: Geoff Pearce
We meet fortnightly on a Wednesday morning between 10-12am at the Rayleigh Leisure Centre (behind Asda).
We are a friendly group who play for fun. It’s good exercise and a chance to socialise too.
Ideally you should know the rules of badminton and be familiar with the basics of how to play.
Currently we have 13 members, and space for 1 or 2 more.

Badminton Thursday
Group Leaders: Jacqui Butcher

Capitol Walks
Group Leader: Val Shepherd
A new group (March 2023)
The idea is a trip to London by train, with a short walk of interest.
Going by train means that you can come home when you want/have to, or stay longer if you want to.
Meetings/Walks will be as and when agreed by members.

Short Mat Bowls
Group Leader: Susan Neil

Walking Sunday
Group Leaders: Christine Shaw
The Sunday Walking Group meets on the last Sunday at 10.30 for local walks of 3-5 miles lasting 1 1/2hrs – 2hrs.
We usually find time for liquid refreshment & further conversation afterwards!

Group members are very supportive and are gradually sharing the responsibility of finding & leading a walk.
We do try to keep stiles & other hazards to a minimum but we're a friendly bunch & encourage & assist each other with our individual problems.
Ages range from early 60s - mid 80s.
Walking shoes or boots are required and most of us also find a walking pole is beneficial.
None of us are professional walk leaders - or first aid experts.
The Group currently has vacancies
If you are interested and prepared to organise a walk at some time, then please email the Groups Co-Ordinator
