Outings
Sat Jun 8th There are still places available for our tour of the National Stud followed by an afternoon of racing at Newmarket. You are welcome to bring along friends or relations who are not U3A members on this trip (sorry no children). Please contact me to book places.
This is an opportunity to experience a Tour of the National Stud, a working thoroughbred stud farm and learn the history and purpose of the farm plus the opportunity to see some foals and yearlings as they are prepared.
See the Foaling Unit and nursery paddocks where you may see new-born foals; the superb Stallion Unit, with the opportunity to see the stallions in their paddocks or going about their daily work, as well as visiting various yards and paddocks where you can watch the mares and foals grazing and enjoying the sunshine.
After your tour, you will head to Newmarket Racecourse for a fantastic afternoon at the Races! The last race is at 5.30pm so we would expect to be leaving by 6.30pm.
We leave Rayleigh Grange at 8.30am. The price is £48 which includes coaching and driver's tip, tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival, tour of the National Stud, grandstand and paddock admission at Newmarket Racecourse, Racecard and £2 bet. There are various food outlets at the racecourse if you want to obtain lunch or you may prefer to take a picnic.
