Our first talk was given by Paul Craddock who gave us a very interesting talk about the introduction of electricity to the UK from DC generators in factories, and very local industrial communities receiving DC power including tram services in the larger cities. Following the technical development of AC power, local electrical companies were formed in city areas. It wasn't until 1948 when the government nationalised electrical distribution, that a national grid concept was developed based on regional groups.
Paul also explained the development of more recent installations in Hydro-electric, Solar, wave and wind generation.
