Nottingham Trent University re – launch
The new course for older learners is starting in January. The course ( timing details below) is designed to give you the opportunity to discuss issues related to living as an older person in society today. We all know that we are not older people but the discussions may help us to understand those who are. You do not need to write anything or read further unless you want to and it is accepted that we will all miss a few sessions because we have other commitments.
If you would like to pursue further study this would be a good introduction.
Futher information from Lynne Jackson 01623 750466 - Ashfield U3A or you can contact Chris Ring at the university.
Making New Moves and Building New Futures
The School of Social Sciences at NTU is a national leader in opening up the rich and varied resources of higher education to mature learners. We will work with you using insights from psychology, sociology and linguistics, to help you enrich everyday life, build your confidence to cope with change, and play an active role in your community.
The course will run on Wednesday afternoons from early January 2017, until the end of May, and has two parts. Module 1, “Introducing Social Sciences”, will consider topics such as personal change and human relationships in the second half of life, and help you develop your study skills. Module 2, “Growing Older in Britain Today”, will look at how personal resources, health and social policy, and technology are shaping the experience of later life – and how you can respond to this.
The cost will be £150. per module (you can take either or both). No qualifications are needed for entry. The course does not lead to an award, but would help you (if you wished to continue your studies) to gain access to our new Postgraduate Course: Enriching Later Life with Social Science starting later on in 2017.
