We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at St Johns Church Hall, Gills Hill Lane (unless we are having an outing).
Our next meeting will be on Thursday 13th June at 2.00pm when Mark Saxon of the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust will be speaking to us about the Trust, the Canal, the boats and the surrounding area.
We only charge £3 for an interesting afternoon which includes socialising over tea, coffee and cake after the talk. We are pleased to welcome members old and new, so do come along to our friendly group.
We have 2 or 3 places left for our outing to the Tring Local History Museum on Thursday 11th July., leaving Radlett by coach at 11.00am and returning around 5.30pm. This will include a short tour of the Museum, short guided walk around Tring, free time and a cream tea. £16.00 per person.
Please contact me via the Carrier Pigeon by 10th June latest, if you would like to come along.
Our meetings are always on the second Thursday of each month at 2pm, unless otherwise stated.
FUTURE MEETINGS AND EVENTS
THURSDAY 11TH JULY – We are visiting, by coach, Tring Local History Museum, where we will have a short guided tour and also a short guided walk of the city centre which is full of interesting history. This will be followed by a cream tea, and then some free time to wander around. Tring is a very pretty small town. The total cost including coach, tour and tea, is £16 and I do still have a few places left for this so if you are interested, please contact me via the carrier pigeon. The closing date for payment is 13th June. Anyone already booked in and not yet paid, please make out your cheque to Radlett and District U3A and either give it to me at the main meeting on Tuesday 14th May, or on 11th June, or 13th June at our meeting, or you can post it to me (address on request).
THURSDAY 8TH AUGUST is our canal trip and payment details are the same as above. This outing is fully booked with a Waiting List.
Local History - Heart of Herts
From our title you will notice that we have marginally "rebranded". This is to give us more scope for topics in covering a wider area. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at St John's Church Hall, Gills Hill Lane at 2pm. We have speakers on a wide variety of topics as well as outings to places of local interest. I am pleased to say that our outings are particularly popular, and that also our meetings with speakers are thriving, with not only a regular following, but also new members coming along. We have developed a great ambience with our members socialising over a "cuppa and cake" after the meeting and we welcome anyone to join us. You do not have to book ahead unless it is an outing. Please email me via the Carrier Pigeon on the main website if you would like to be included in my monthly newsletter for information on upcoming events.
Please make a note that our meetings are always held at 2pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month at St Johns Church, unless otherwise stated
We have talks and outings planned throughout the coming year and look forward to welcoming you to many of our meetings which are always on the 2nd Thursday unless otherwise stated. £3 to include refreshments, except for the outings.
