Radlett & District

Local History - Heart of Herts

Group Coordinator: - Diana Lobatto
Meetings: - Monthly 2nd Thursday at 2.30pm at Tabard Rugby Football Club, Cobden Hill, Radlett WD7 7JN

Our group has now resumed successfully but still cautiously, with face to face meetings. The good social ambience is well established during refreshment time and I have arranged a variety of speakers and outings, so far running through the rest of this year and into the beginning of next year.

I have now reopened the mailing list so if you wish to be included, especially if you are a new u3a member, please let me know, so that you can receive all the meetings and outings information in my monthly email Newsletter. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 2.30pm at Tabard, the Rugby Club in Cobden Hill, Radlett. Admission £5 to include our delicious selection of luxury wrapped biscuits. The Hall is spacious and airy and in the summer months we hope to enjoy refreshments outside.

Our group is continuing very successfully. Our next meeting will be held at our usual venue Tabard Rugby Club, Cobden Hill, Radlett, at 2.30pm on THURSDAY 14TH JULY. I am delighted to welcome back active u3a member Chris Langdon, who will be speaking about Thameslink - its history, development and the then and now. It's a fascinating topic and as Chris is highly enthusiastic about everything to do with trains you are in for a treat.

Another, hopefully sunny and sociable afternoon event is the Radlett Museum Cream Tea on the lawn (or in the hall if bad weather) at the Village Institute (corner of Theobald Street) on Sunday 17th July 2.30pm to 5pm. £10 per person including delicious homemade sandwiches, scones and cakes. Looking forward to seeing many of you at both the above events. No need to book in for either. Diana Lobatto

Monthly meetings continue next year with a good variety of planned topics, great support, enthusiasm and interest, for which I thank all attendees. We are trying to cover as much of Hertfordshire History as we can, and are so far doing well with a reasonable variety of topics and meetings already planned into next year.

More detailed information about our meetings will be emailed to those of you on my mailing list.
