Poetry

Leader Sandra Taylor

We have 11 members and meet at 10:30 on the first Wednesday of the month. Please sign up at the monthly meeting or via the carrier pigeon on this page if you would like to join us as we are looking for one or two new members to join this well-established group.

We meet in members' homes over coffee (and delicious biscuits). We look at a different poet or theme each month. We have no "expert" leader so we take turns to do a little background research and lead a session. Usually members bring a poem by the chosen poet or on a theme.

We read and discuss, often referring to stirred memories in our lives, and often with much merriment.

Over the years we have encountered more than 50 poets from the Romans through to John Donne, the Romantic Poets, poets of the 20th century and very modern poetry. We have enjoyed our theme sessions which have varied from poems about summer to isolation, age, beauty and humour.

If you would like more information, please contact me via the Carrier Pigeon
