{We arrange visits to a variety of places generally related to "Wings Wheels etc." The visits run from Spring to Autumn. To join one of these trips send this Group Leader a message using the carrier pigeon on the right

We will leave the destination at 3pm to return home. Food will be available from the Apache Café in the museum.

Housed in the original Group Operations Building on the site of USAAF Station 179, the CARPETBAGGER AVIATION MUSEUM offers a rare look at life on the top secret base of the 801st / 492nd American Eighth Air Force Bomb Group during World War II
Displays and exhibits within the museum depict the history of the airfield and vividly show the work carried out by the 801st (Provisional) / 492nd Bomb Group, especially during Operation Carpetbagger, and their secret missions to deliver agents and supplies to resistance groups in Occupied Europe during the Second World War
Other exhibits and displays include the secret work of the British Special Operations Executive from their RAF base at Tempsford; the cold war roles of the airfield at Harrington with the Thor rockets; and the Royal Observer Corps. harringtonmuseum.org.uk/ Harrington Museum Brochure
Visit will include an intro Video and Guided tour.
We will go to the Pub www.coachandhorsesbrixworth.co.uk/ for lunch about 1.45pm and leave for home about 3pm.
I spoke to a couple from Northampton who told me the Pub has good food and Ales – excellent reviews on Tripadvisor - Sandwiches, 2 course lunch special offer at £7.95 etc available with real Ale ! Harrington Lunch Menu

The Midland Museum and Air base at Coventry went into a Victor bomber, Shackleton, a Nimrod and had lunch in a DC-6.
A great sunny day cruising on the restored Thames Sailing Barge ‘Hydrogen’, based in Maldon, Essex.
North Weald Airfield Museum & Postal Museum Store; an excellent selection of items to view.
The Museum of Army Flying - Experience over 100 years of the Army in the Air in Hampshire.
Uxbridge WW2 Bunker, - The best preserved Fighter control Bunker
Bentley Priory Museum – Fighter Command HQ and Filter Room
London Motor Cycle Museum with 170 machines to view along with lunch at the ACE Café
Duxford IWM visit in September was a great day out; brilliant sunshine. Saw a Blenheim, 3 Spitfires and Hurricane flying !!
St Albans South signal box| The tour on 8th October was yet again a beautiful sunny day! A range of railway exhibits as well as simulation operated by original levers.A grand day out.....
Kelvedon Secret Bunker was a great 70s_80s experience.
Kew Steam Museum in May was really fascinating and had 2 Steam engines running.
Brooklands Museum A great sunny June day for our visit The new Barnes Wallace Stratosphere Hanger was fascinating.
Chatham Dockyard a beautiful day again in July wth a wide range of things to see from Lifeboats to destroyers and a submarine we also made a rope great day out.
Paddle Steamer trip on the Waverly, the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer, originally launched in 1947 and now fully restored but still steam powered and offering the chance to sail from Gravesend to Tower Pier, with Tower Bridge opening as we sailed under.
