Bridge (Intermediate/Intermediate Plus)

Leader: Jerry Packman

Although we are out of lockdown, many of our members prefer to continue to play bridge online, using BridgeBase (BBO) which is free to join and play, and often seeing and talking to the opponents using Whatsapp video. In addition, RealBridge online is popular, which does have in-built camera view of all 4 players who can talk to one another. Although these online facilities have been a life-saver for bridge players during lockdown, and have the advantage of not having to shuffle, deal or sort the cards, it does still lack the real social aspect that real - life brings.
However, as Bridge is very much a socially un-distanced activity, including the handling of cards etc, we will not return to normal service of playing at Radlett Reform Synagogue on Wednesday afternoons, until January 2022 at the earliest

We have now organised our fourth (and hopefully last) online tournament which will end in December.

As Bridge is very much a socially un-distanced activity, including the handling of cards etc, we will not return to normal service of playing at Radlett Reform Synagogue on Wednesday afternoons, until January 2022 at the earliest.

Location of meetings: Reform Synagogue in Radlett.

Day and time: Wednesday afternoons (other than the last Wednesday of the month) , from 1.30 pm to 4.15 pm. Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided at half time.

Term Dates and Cost: Each calendar year is now split into 2 "terms" of 6 months each. The January to June 2020 cost was £30 per person.

This Group is suitable for Intermediate or Intermediate Plus players and we score using the Chicago System and use bidding boxes.

We are a very social group and our ethos and object is to spend a friendly, enjoyable and sociable few hours playing Chicago Bridge in a non-threatening and non-intimidating environment. Coupled with this is of course the desire to improve and expand on our bridge knowledge through playing and learning from our failures and successes.

Availability: At the present time we are full with the maximum number of members signed up and therefore do not have any availability. However if you are interested in joining the waiting list please contact Jerry by clicking on the carrier pigeon link on this page or by email to radlettbridge@gmail.com.
