Bridge - Social Online

Leader Gary Harding

Since the beginning of the year, we have also been running online 'social' Bridge using the same RealBridge software as the Duplicate Bridge group. As long as at least one of the players is a Radlett U3A member this allows them to play with other family and friends, potentially from anywhere in the world, in the same 'mini Zoom' environment where you can see and talk to each other. This again has proved popular and we often have several tables playing each day.

Again we still need to pay for the RealBridge software so there is a small charge of £2 per table where you can play up to 32 hands. Tables are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - we never close!
For further information please see our webpage www.radlettu3a/org.uk/social_bridge or to book a table contact me at bridge@radlettu3a.org.uk.

You, with your partner and opponents, will join a table in one of our RealBridge lounges. The system will deal the cards and you can bid and play very much like you would in any of the online bridge systems. There will be lounges available all week and you can play up to 32 boards in them. If you don’t want to play that many at one time you can even split the sessions up and, say, play 16 boards one day and another 16 the next (subject to the time limits on the lounge).

If you wish you can also move around the table during a session so you can play some hands with one partner and others with a different partner. The host, who will pay, must play and be a RadlettU3A member. The other players, but normally only one or two, can be guests.

We have to pay for the use of the RealBridge software so there will be a small charge of £2 for the table you play at (i.e. just £2 in total for all four people playing). One person at the table should be nominated the host and they will be responsible for paying for the session. There is no up front commitment and you can play as frequently or infrequently as you like. An invoice will be sent to the host at the end of the month.

If you would like to find out more or start playing please use the carrier pigeon on this page or email me at bridge@radlettu3a.org.uk
