Genealogy

Our meetings are normally held in Holford Village Hall where we can use their fast Internet access. Various members of the group have access to on-line resources and we spend our two hour sessions helping each other to do some family research and to solve problems as well as sharing expertise. We interested in finding out more about our predecessors lives not just dates and have enjoyed sharing our family stories.
Please see the events page for up and coming meetings. We welcome both novices who are starting to record their family history as well as ‘experts’ who have got stuck or would like to share their experience. There are many be sites that offer really extensive access to resources but they are often available only on subscription. It is recommended that you try them out before purchasing to assess their suitability. Luckily most libraries now have free access to them for research and that is a useful way to explore them initially.
